We are always grateful to parents who help out with costumes and props, Pat and Audrey O’Dwyer who provide us with a backdrop to the sets and all the sponsors who donate raffle prizes.

Music in the Classroom: On 16th January the children went to the popular Music in the Classroom concert which was staged this year in U.L. This was a musical treat for pupils and teachers alike and the children particularly enjoyed the comedy sketches within the performance and their own participation in the party section of the programme.

Peace Proms: The senior classes participated in the Cross Border Orchestra of Ireland Peace Proms concert which took place on 27th January in UL. They attended a workshop in UL on Friday 14th December under the baton of the renowned conductor Gearoid Grant who also conducted the concert on 27th. The songs were modern and included numbers such as The Climb, Don’t worry, Be happy, Let there be peace on earth, Get on your Feet, Feel the Beat,

In just a little While and Crossing Borders which was specially commissioned for the Peace Proms. Other items in the concert itself included orchestral works and a highlight for the children was the full sound of a Scottish Pipe band.

The other teams in our group are Barna and Caherelly.

School Tour: Our school tour this year will be taking in the promised visit to the Aviva Stadium in Dublin, courtesy of Mr. John Delaney. The international match in question is Ireland vs. Faroe Islands and will take place on Friday 7th June. Any parents interested in travelling will be invited to apply for tickets to the school and we will be finalising arrangements in the near future.

We have two secret surprise activities arranged to take place before the summer holiday to keep the children alert and on their toes.

One is a talk on dogs and the other is a science related event on water and will involve experiments. Both will be delivered by guest speakers and should be enjoyable.
