Garrydoolis Parents Association Newsletter November 2014

GARRYDOOLIS PARENTS ASSOCIATION NEWSLETTER
November 2014

Thanks to Sally Ann, Grace Savage and Fiona Fox for preparing the lovely treats they brought to the school before mid term break. Everything was made from home grown ingredients, which will also soon appear in the school garden. The children enjoyed pumpkin pie, pumpkin soup, pumpkin seed bread and green tomato relish. The Parents Association has pledged €100 to the School Garden project, and the co-ordinators are looking forward to investing in some supplies in the Spring.

Thank you all for your wonderful support of our first Book Fair at the school. We achieved sales of €877, with 60% of this sum being available to the school in book rewards. The Resource Room was a hive of activity on October 20th and 21st and it was lovely to see students of the school (past and future!) nose deep in the books.
Look out for the Setanta catalogue which will be distributed soon by Breda McGuinness. Setanta has many popular titles at lower cost, and it also rewards the school with book vouchers.

We have purchased a bicycle stand for the school at a cost of €98 (incl. VAT) which can hold up to 5 bikes. Many thanks to Roger Butler for installing same.

Please note the new date for Clothes Recycling is on Thursday November 13th.
Bring all your bags of unwanted clean clothes, shoes, belts, bags, household linen and soft toys to the school before 3pm on November 13th. This has proved a great fundraiser in the past and we hope that with your help and that of extended family and the wider community, it will again.

Our Annual Cake Sale is eagerly anticipated and we can promise the usual delicious treats on November 30th, immediately after Templebraden 10am Mass. We have traditionally enjoyed the attendance of large numbers thanks to the support of parents and extended families of the school. All manner of cakes, biscuits, buns and breads will be gratefully accepted on the day, as will your custom. Tea and coffee will be served in the Resource Room if you really can’t wait to get the goodies home before tucking in!

There will be a raffle on the day with prizes of hampers. If you can donate any suitable items eg. Baskets, cheese, jams, chutneys, coffee, biscuits, bottle of wine, sweets or chocolates please contact Riah on 087 2359905. Items should be received before November 26th at the latest. Thank you again in anticipation of your assistance.
