CRAFTed

The Design and Crafts Council of Ireland’s CRAFTed Programme gives Primary School children and teachers an exciting opportunity to explore their creativity and learn new skills by working with professional craftspeople in the classroom.

CRAFTed supports teachers in the delivery of the Visual Arts (VA) curriculum and investigates how craft processes can contribute to learning in other subject areas such as Social, Environmental and Scientific Education (SESE) curriculum.

CRAFTed provided access to a highly skilled craftsperson, Fergus, who came to the school and delivered workshops to the children. It gave the teacher and students the opportunity to explore new materials, different types of metals.

The children from Infants to Third class took part in five, 2 hour workshops with Fergus from February to April. They explored the theme of Irish Wildflowers through sketching, printing, designing and metal work. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed the sessions. The children completed a beautiful metal print and display stand.
